17 Weeks!

This week marks number 17!  We have a doctor's appointment on Thursday so I'll post more details about that later this week.

I had a pregnancy brain moment last week (actually, I've had several) but I put incorrect information on our blog.  I put the week 16 information about the size of baby etc, but technically last week was our 17th week of being pregnant.  Think: If you are 32 years old, this is actually your 33rd year of life.  So anyway, I'll post what I skipped last week, along with this week's information.  Now....for pictures and baby info:

Your Baby: Week 17  (last week info)

Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. The umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes are now topped by one-of-a-kind prints.

And here's what baby is up to this week.....

Your Baby: Week 18

Your fetus has become amazingly mobile (at least compared to you), passing the hours yawning, hiccuping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking and swallowing. And, baby's finally big enough that you'll be able to feel those movements soon.

There is definitely a baby growing in there!

I officially don't fit into ANY of my work pants.  I didn't wear jeans this weekend (leggings both Saturday and Sunday) so I'm not sure if they fit. I'm guessing not.  I've been using the rubber band/hair tie trick with my pants.  I need to just break down and buy the Belly Band, but I haven't (surprisingly) found myself at Target lately.  My shirts fit, but are tight and I really only feel comfortable in looser fitting ones.

I haven't been able to feel the baby moving yet, but I keep reading that it should be any day (or week) now! I can't wait for that!
This isn't really me, but you get the idea.

16 weeks!!

Technically my new pregnancy "week" starts on Mondays, so today I'm 16weeks 2 days.  Anyway, this is my first pregnancy update since the big announcement!  I've been feeling really great, only a couple mornings of praying to the porcelain goddess, and I felt fine the rest of the day.  I'm starting to not feel so tired anymore too, so that's a bonus.

This week, baby Burton is the size of an avocado.  "What To Expect" tells me this:

Your Baby: Week 16

Watch what you say... tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean the little one can now pick up your voice. Eyebrows, lashes and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming. And, if you're interested, an ultrasound might be able to determine gender.

Here's what I look like this week:

You might not be able to tell, but I have been using a hair tie to keep my pants buttoned :)

I've been browsing online a lot to look for nursery ideas.  We have some things we like, but I'll keep those a secret until we definitely know what we're planning to do.  Oh, did I mention that we are NOT finding out the sex?!  :)

Next doctor's appointment is next Thursday.  We'll be able to hear the baby's heartbeat again.  So far baby has been in the mid-160s and mid-150s.

Quarter of a Century Birthday

I've had some pretty good birthdays in my life and this one was right up there too!  It wasn't because of a big party or lots of gifts.  The day started out with homemade cards from some of the kids in my class, along with a homemade cupcake, a goody bag with cookies and candy, and a cookbook from another student.  The day got even better when I got flowers from Tyson's mom, grandma, and sister!  My class was so excited for my birthday! :)

They knew we wouldn't do birthday treats until the end of the day, so we went outside for our extra recess and guess who came walking up to the playground?!!  TYSON!!  He brought cake pops for me and my class!! What a guy! :)  They were excited to meet him as well, especially one overly excited boy who jumped up and gave him a hug.  We spent the last part of the day celebrating and loading up on sugar before I sent them home.

That night, Tyson and I had dinner at Sakura (yum!) and called it a night early.

Jump back to Wednesday when I celebrated with my mom, Wendy, and Ava.  We decided that instead of a family dinner, we would just do a girls' dinner.  The guys were going to be busy roofing at Malcolm's this weekend, so we went for plan B.  We met at Hu Hot and had dinner there.  I was showered with gifts: a book for Baby Burton from Ava, a Pregnancy Dos and Don'ts book from Malcolm's and a Peek-A-Boo Baby giftcard, and some maternity clothes from my parents (which will probably be coming in sooner rather than later).

After dinner we realized it was down pouring, so we walked around the mall and let Ava empty all of our change into the fountain and then ride the mechanical horse.  Before we left, we stopped for a cookie and then ran to the car in the pouring ran.  Ava kept saying "all wet....Nana all wet".  lol

I honestly think that one of the best parts of my birthday was how excited my kids were to tell me 'happy birthday' and shower me with love all day!  What a great class I have! :)

Panthers, Pictures, and Party

This weekend seemed to fly by!!  I love having things to do, but on Monday, I'm always wishing for one more day to relax!

Saturday was UNI's homecoming.  Tyson and I met my parents, brother, Malcolm's and some other friends to tailgate around noon.  It was a perfect day for sitting outside! I think it was in the 80s!  I was even complaining about how hot it was, but I know I shouldn't be.  This weather will be gone before we know it and then I'll be complaining about how cold it is!  My mom got tickets to the game again this year, so we were all able to sit together and enjoy watching the Panthers win!  After the game, Tyson and I came home and fell asleep pretty early. :)

Sunday morning started by sleeping in and then getting some family pictures taken.  The main reason for pictures was because of Ava's birthday (which was on Thursday), but we got some group shots and some couple shots as well! I can't wait to see them all! We were thankful for gorgeous weather again!

After pictures, Tyson and I had to make a quick run to Toys R Us for some last minute details to Ava's present, then we decided to get soup, salad, and breadsticks at Olive Garden.  YUM!!!

Ava's birthday party was at 4:00, so Tyson got a quick nap in and then we were out the door again.  The theme of the party was Elmo, Ava's favorite Sesame Street character.  There was an Elmo balloon, Elmo cupcakes (which Wendy and I put together Friday night), Elmo cookies, Elmo gift bags,  and a 2 year old in an Elmo dress! :)    After watching Ava open present after present, we got a good look into what Christmas will look like in 2 months.  She was MUCH more interested in opening her own presents this year than she was last year.

Tyson and I also got a gift from the Petersen's.....a pregnancy to-do list and book.  This will help me get organized (thank God) and put down all of these ideas that are floating in my head and saved in numerous emails and files on our computer!

Coming up this week: my birthday and MAYBE some belly shots.  We'll have to wait and see :)
